1104 Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}5/R.{Sir Henry Royce} 1st December, 1937. W. Lyons, Esq., Messrs. S.S. Cars Ltd., Holbrook Lane, COVENTRY. Dear Mr. Lyons, Thank you so much for the very pleasing time you gave us on Monday. We are looking forward to your visit to Derby. While I was talking over bearings with you I may, inadvertently, have given you the impression that we thought Vandervell's thin shell bearings were no good. If I did give you this impression I should like to correct it. Our actual feelings are that no white metal bearing is good enough to function in our engine and sustain high speed power. We would not say that the thin shell bearing is appreciably worse than the ordinary white metal bearing. Yours sincerely, | ||
