RE. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM FOR 40/50 H.P. CHASSIS. X.3232

It will be noticed from Mr. Clark's sheet (EFC9/T9/6/21) that a comparison is made between the present standard Lucas and the R.R. double wiring system in which it shews a 50% [handwritten insertion] increase in cost of the R.R. system. Most of this may be accounted for by the extra performance of the installation. £5, extra or nearly half appears as the cost of the Smith dynamo. There are also other fittings not included in the Lucas equipment, such as the Locked Switch, which would soon account for a few pounds more.

The great point, however, is that not one of the items, except the Weston ammeter of the Lucas equipment can be considered really satisfactory. Therefore the comparisons are of no value.

It would be advisable for you to get an alternative to the R.R.-Smith installation, and I suggest that we get such an alternative price from any [handwritten insertion] the C.A.V. which promises to be the best of the English equipments.

[Handwritten note:]
Upon examination I prefer the Bleriot cutout to the Smith and I think it is a neater fitting
