1023. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}1/MH.{M. Huckerby} 15th. December, 1939. C.L.Breeden, Esq., Messrs. Wilmot-Breeden, Ltd., Eastern Works, Camden Street, BIRMINGHAM, 1. Dear Breeden, I send you herewith PL.70, a sketch of the bumper bar. I am sorry that this has been delayed but I quarrelled with the original scheme. You will observe that we want to try three different types of support spring, and should be glad if you would supply these together with the points for fixing. to the front bumper bar. You really know a lot more about making bumper bars than we do so if you have any suggestions to make to facilitate manufacture or improve performance we should be very interested to hear them. Possibly, from your experience you will be able to tell us what you consider to be the minimum thickness of spring support that is likely to give us satisfaction. We are out for the latest and best bumper we can get. We are very much attracted by the tempered steel front member. I have written to America to find out exactly why the hydraulic torque converter was not adopted in the States. Yours sincerely, | ||
