'3S' REAR DAMPERS.

We have investigated the reason why the S.S. cars left for France with the holes drilled in the high pressure valves.

After experimental tests agreement was come to that we should drill the high pressure valves in the present 20 HP. shock absorbers in order to overcome the persistent complaints we have had from customers with 20 HP. cars of the shock absorbers knocking.

Unfortunately, the instructions for drilling the xxx valves also got through for the S.S. New rear shock absorbers were fitted to the cars the night before they left and these valves were incorporated. No one realised that this modification had been made -xx at the time everyones interest was centred round the jellying of the frame at the front and engine mounting. The fact that the rear shock absorbers had been changed was not realised.

On the run back from Le CanadelHenry Royce's French residence to the coast with 21-EX with the hole in the valves stopped up, the springing of this car was excellent and the control of the car was very good indeed.
