THOMAS MANAGING DIRECTOR Ward End, Birmingham, 8 YOUR REF: OUR REF: WMWT/NS.{Norman Scott} 24th February, 1940. W. A.{Mr Adams} Robotham Esq. Messrs. Rolls-Royce Ltd. DERBY. Dear Mr. Robotham, Many thanks for your letter of the 20th February. I am afraid that next Wednesday, 28th inst. has also been hit on the head for my visit to Derby. I will give you a ring and make another date. In the meantime, I am enclosing herewith drawings of the Cotal gearbox which gives the general arrangement of the 4-speed car unit together with magnet clearances, and also arrangements of the marine reverse gear. The main feature about this, of course, is its ability to be interconnected with the throttle, and also the fact that the propellor shaft when in neutral is definitely locked. I am afraid the general arrangement of the car box is not strictly applicable to the one that we have sent to you in size. The drawing is of the 30 m.k.g. box (3 1/2-litre) whereas the actual box that you have is a 20/25 m.k.g. | ||
