(3) For Standard clutch less flywheel/M² = 134 = decrease of 58%. Causing & for tightened flywheel to be at 2960 r.p.m. (i.e. more or less unchanged) * clutch less * * * 3970 r.p.m. The removal of the period with the clutch less flywheel may be due to (1) lessening the overhang. (2) The stiffening effect of the straight through drive. The car was then tried with all the moving clutch parts replaced but retaining the direct drive from crankshaft to gearbox. The engine was again smooth up to 3610 r.p.m. there being no trace of the 3100 r.p.m. period. This would suggest fitting of a tail bearing to the existing flywheel on to the first motion shaft of the gearbox. The noise at 3610 appears not to be a vibration so much as a clatter, probably due to valve bounce. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} Grylls. | ||
