To DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} from E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} Copy to CJ. * BN.{W.O. Bentley / Mr Barrington} * * EH. * * KFC. * SY ORIGINAL. x.3565 E1/G30/5/19. 2 RE TEMPERATURE INDICATOR FOR 40/50 H.P. CHASSIS. RECEIVED Would you kindly note that Mr. Royce does not consider it necessary to place the thermometer bulb in that portion of the water circulation near the radiator. The most convenient and practical position he considers is the rear end of the top water pipe. The rearmost fitting on this pipe should be provided with a fitting which will enable the thermometer bulb to be inserted pointing up the pipe. The thermometer tubing should then be arranged to pass straight backwards through a hole in the dash, which hole will be made large enough to allow the thermometer bulb and union nut to pass through. It may be necessary to cover up this hole with a suitable rosette when the bulb is in position. On the driver's side of the dash the thermometer tube is arranged as on the attached sketch LeC. with two coils, in such a manner that when it is desired to dismantle the engine the thermometer bulb union may be unscrewed and the complete bulb drawn backwards through the dash out of the way, the necessary deflection in the thermometer tube being provided by the two coils above mentioned. If necessary, as shewn on LeC. the tube may be carried vertically upwards from the first coil, so as to allow room for the distribution board. Would you kindly proceed to fit the temperature indicators as explained in the foregoing. It would be desirable to send a blue print of the scheme as drawn to Mr.Royce. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} Kindly send photostat print of LeC.1097 as soon as possible. | ||
