(5) Brass locating pieces .430" - 429" on diameter and free from loose pieces of turnings.

Body & Valves.

(1) Remove plugs and inspect foreign matter in well and blow out.

(2) Inspect delivery valve to see the circlip retaining the valve is in position in the recess.

(3) That the planished side of each valve disc is towards the seating.

A special test rig is being made to test pumps under normal working conditions.

Assembly.

When the units are reassembled the contacts should be set. This is done by screwing the diaphragm in until a position is reached where the points do not break, if it pressed slowly and firmly home, it is then turned back to the first hole on the diaphragm edge at which the points just break when pressed home. From this position it is unscrewed a further 4 holes and is ready to bolt on the body. To do this a wedge is inserted under the inner trunnion on the contact breaker which holds the diaphragm at the end of its stroke (fully drawn back).

The unit is then bolted up and the wedge withdrawn.

The Test Rig.

Each side of the pump should be tested individually and then both together for

(1) Priming.

(2) Max. pressure on head developed.

(3) Valve leaks.
