Potential cost-saving benefits of using American extruded copper radiator tubes over brass drawn tubes.

The extruded copper tubes which they make in America for radiators can be bought for approximately one-third the price we pay for our brass drawn tubes. In U.S.A., I was told that the reason they had not developed the brass drawn tubes was because the extruded copper tube had been proved equally as good for radiators and was very much cheaper. I attach to Mr. Royce's copy of this an advertisement from an American paper which states that some of the radiator manufacturers using these extruded copper tubes are prepared to guarantee the radiator for the life of the car. There is no difficulty in getting these copper tubes with round ends instead of hexagon, in fact, in that form they would be slightly cheaper. We consider that we ought to investigate the possibilities of using extruded tubes because the present drawn tubes are very expensive. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} | ||
