- 2 - EP {G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} 11/H5.3.24. We have been requested on one or two occasions to supply some specially strung springs on this job, owing to the complaint from customers that the steering winds up when the car gets into cart ruts or on the side of heavily cambered roads and also causes the car to dive. We have not condoned this, pointing out that the steering will otherwise suffer from road shocks and that we consider the above strength of springs the best compromise. We shall be glad if Hs. {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} will confirm this, and let us know exactly the strength of these buffer springs on the experimental Cars which have been tried by all parties and considered satisfactory in this respect.
