To Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} c. to BJ. X3867 E2/M28.10.26. RE. LIGHTER PHANTOM CYL. HEAD. X.8050 X.3867 This note is to confirm our suggestion to use one lip only on the turbulent head to give single flow turbulence. We have always had in mind that one lip only could be used, and that the opposite side of the head could be radiused, and that this might give a better effect than the pumping motion from both sides opposed. As you saw on your recent visit to WW. we are proposing to try a partly side stepped head later on, and a lip on the deeper side of this head will give almost complete Ricardo effect.
