EXPERIMENTAL DEPARTMENT.

Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/JBD.{John B. Dixon - Fuel Systems}9/JH.

25th. May, 1939.

Messrs. Ferodo Ltd.,
Chapel-en-le-Frith.

For the attention of Mr. Longley.

Dear Sirs,

Following our telephone conversation of yesterday we are returning 16 pieces of the VG.91 brake lining GB.3260 supplied to our order No.91924 dated the 27.4.39. instead of VG.90 called for.

We are retaining 8 pieces for experimental purposes.

We should be glad if you will supply a further 32 pieces of VG.90 identical to the first samples you supplied.

We have recently been experiencing trouble with the VG.90 servo discs which have been producing groans and judders when cold and feel that this material is different to that supplied in the first instance.

We are sending you an official order to cover the 8 pieces of VG.91 brake linings we have retained and also for 3 servo friction discs to GB.4586 in VG.90. to be supplied to the same specification as the first samples we received.

The writer would like to come over and discuss this variation in the material with you after the holidays and would suggest Wednesday or Thursday next week if convenient.

Yours faithfully,
FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LTD.
