- 12 - GRAPH VI Y-Axis: HEAT DISSIPATION PER CENT. X-Axis: WATER FLOW THROUGH RADIATOR CORE GAL/MIN The curve is taken from one of the American Bureau of Standard's papers. The full data of the test not being available, it should only be taken as a general indication of the effect of reduced circulation on radiator efficiency. Thermosyphon V.{VIENNA} Pump Circulation. The only recommendations for thermosyphon cooling are its simplicity and low initial cost. The water is kept in circulation owing to the physical law that above 4°C, cold water is denser than hot water. As the cylinders heat up the water is warmed round them and rises through the top pipe to the top of the radiator. There it at once begins to fall in temperature and so increases in density until it reaches the bottom of the matrix and passes into the bottom of the cylinder jacket. Here it is once more warmed, decreases in density, rises, and the cycle is complete. contd. | ||
