35-EX. PHANTOM III.

Special Gearbox-Engine Stay.

We have received and fitted the new rear connecting piece and gearbox plug. We noted .010" end clearance in the joint and take it that this is to drawing.

We have returned to you the parts removed for examination. You will note that our prediction that the locking plate would tend to act as a spanner with the relative movement of the gearbox and engine rocking the stay, is born out by the marks on the corners of the hexagon where the locking plate has dug in.

We wonder if the washer that is worn so badly is to drawing or whether a larger washer should have been fitted.
