-2- These failures have been discussed with R.{Sir Henry Royce}, and the Design Committee and modifications have been agreed to. It is thought that these modifications will definitely overcome the trouble. We are sending the new parts out to France as soon as ever possible (some of them have already been sent), and recommend that these modified parts should run through until the test on the axle is completed. We can only reproduce these faults under conditions existing in France. In the case of the exhaust system the works are not producing any parts similar to those which failed but they are having to go ahead on the modified parts, therefore, it is essential that we should prove these parts out in France. This means the car should run 14,000 miles in France instead of 3,000 which under normal conditions will take eleven or twelve days longer which means that the test should be completed about the first week in April. As regards the list of officials to try this car when it returns, we have added Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} Therefore, we shall make arrangements for KP., MK.{R. E. B. Meade-King}, Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}, JLE.{J. Lee Evans - Chassis Test Manager}, and Er. to report on this car. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} | ||
