X.3461. RE. REAR SHOCK ABSORBERS.

The most difficult part as regards fitting rear shock absorbers on to existing cars, even though they are sent away with the correct brackets on the axle, springs the correct length and the proper petrol tank, is the fixing of the small cantilever which carries the bottom ball end. This is fixed on by means of taper bolts and it is very necessary that the fit of the bolts should be an excellent job.

There are drop forgings now in existance for the small cantilever and we recommend that at the first possible moment all cars should be fitted with this cantilever. If this is done it will certainly more than halve the time taken to fit shock absorbers to existing cars.

It would pay us, as the levers are available, that all cars on test should be fitted with this lever before they are despatched. They have got to be fitted sometime and it is a much easier job to do at the works than any where else.
