'E' SECTION. SPECIFICATION FOR 20 SPECTRECodename for Phantom III CHASSIS. Crankcase & Bearings. - To be new design with larger slipper flywheel and altered dynamo gear ratio to give lower cutting in speed. Handwritten: 1 week Crankshaft. - To be of the lightened type and suit new slipper flywheel. Handwritten: O.K. Spring Drive. - To suit new slipper flywheel. Handwritten: Issue at once Connecting Rods. - As at present instructed experimentally. Handwritten: O.K. subject to examination Piston. - Not to be ordered until we received further information from Experimental Department. Cylinders. - To be as at present instructed experimentally, but with .500 longer cylinder liner. Valves & Fittings. - To be suitable for double valve springs and 8 to 1 rocker ratio. Inlet Pipes. - These to be the latest design as at present instructed experimentally. Carburetter. - Latest type with reversed throttle. Carburetter Air Silencer. - To be similar to what is being fitted on SpectreCodename for Phantom III 111. for 10,000 miles test. Handwritten: Drawings within a week Camshaft & Bearings. - To be as at present instructed experimentally, but camshafts are only to be machined up to the point previous to forming the cams.
