Dear Sirs,

For the attention of Mr. Robotham.

We understand from Mr. Martindale's letter of the 7th inst., that Mr. Robotham has expressed his willingness to settle up with us payment re the sample sets of GIRLING BRAKES on the front axles which we supplied to you.

If you will kindly remember we originally quoted you a price of £55 but when we first passed over the order to Messrs. Smith Clayton Forge Ltd., they found their representative had made a mistake and they charged us £50 for the axle. They then charged us £75 for the second axle as we asked them to work weekends as well, so that the two axles alone without any of our work cost us £125.

We had to pay for the pattern for the shoes, etc., and the machining and you can readily understand that the job has cost us £175 all told. However, we must say quite frankly that this is not your fault but as we did not get paid for the work we had done a year before this, Mr. Robotham thought there was a possibility he might be able to meet us a little towards out of pocket expenses.

We will leave the matter entirely in your hands now and if you care to pay us more than the £55 we shall be very pleased. If you do not, it cannot be helped.

The writer has had a very bad attack of 'flu and is going away for a week to recuperate but if you want him up to discuss the matter he will be able to do so
