Hydraulic Tappets (contd)

adopt gauze for the main filters. A shortage of oil feed to the plungers was also a contributing cause to noise from these tappets. Hw is investigating this with Hancock.

Petrol Supply

Hancock's remark that the last 5 gallons in the tank were not usable is being investigated. This is not considered a serious defect, as the cause is expected to be fairly obvious.

Wraith II

The suggested specification set out in E5/SP{Mr Spinney}28.11.35. was next discussed, and in general principle agreed to.

A debate took place on the rear axle. The P.III axle was suggested for saving time, but after a lengthy discussion the banjo type of axle was decided on, on the score of cost and weight. It is hoped to avoid the necessary extra time required by this by saving it in the other stages of development of this chassis.

Regarding the type of engine for this chassis, E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} suggested methods of saving costs on the production of a 12-cylinder, although it was considered there was more evidence of lower costs arising out of an 8 cylinder. The question of the type of engine has not yet been decided. S. will again endeavour to get hold of a Cadillac V8 for the Company to try.

Re road wheels, it was decided to adopt the Bentley
