To R.{Sir Henry Royce} from Ha/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls} c. Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} c. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} c. Hy.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} ORIGINAL X5310 Ha/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls}4/KT.2.1.32. 25 HP. SYNCHROMESH REVERSE GEAR. We have now completed a successful test of the Reverse gear to M.Sch.3374, but with both sets of oil holes 38° from the horizontal. After 15 minutes full torque the gear had shown no tendency to come out or seize. A further run in 1st. gear, which causes the reverse shaft to rotate in a different position on the stationary shaft, also was successful. We can therefore standardise this gear. We shall fit it to 18.G.IV. when it returns to France. Ha/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls} | ||
