Main bearings, No. 1, 3, 5 and 7 die cast AC.9. No. 2, 4, and 6 Centri cast AC.9. Big ends 3 in die cast A.C.9. 3 in centri cast A.C.9. Little end bushes with varying clearances in rods size and size, 1/4 and 1/2 thou clearances. Check for gudgeon pin knocks before starting endurances. Crankshaft with unmachined webs. Tin plated Aerolite pistons. Endurance to consist of 20 hrs. for a start under the following conditions - (1) Each hour 30 mins. at 4000 R.P.M. 25 " " 4250 " " 5 " " 4500 " " (2) Each 10 hrs. 7 hrs. at full load. 2 " " 1/2 load. 1 hr. " 1/4 " Run to be carried out on Mobiloil Arctic at an inlet temp. of 100°C - 120°C. Run Redline fuel to avoid risk of valve failure. SINGLE CYLINDER. Comparison of 2 plug positions on No.3 head and 2 positions on No.4 head for minimum advance, max. power and non detonating characteristics. | ||
