| (2) (9) Loss of clearance in Tappets. We do not know how to cure this trouble. (10) Failure of Pistons due to Gudgeon Locking Pin. Modifications have been made to strengthen the support of the locking ring by deleting the three recessed holes at the side and adding .025" of metal either side of locking ring. The gudgeon to be .050" in length. (11) Exhaust Manifold. W.W. have sent a memo. to try malleable exhaust manifolds. (12) Angle Support on Dashboard. Failure of Rivets. These were .125" thick, aluminium. They have been altered to .3125" aluminium rivets. (13) Body Subframe Bracket broken. This has been reinforced. (14) Lucas Wintscreen Wiper Failure. We have taken the matter up with Lucas, but although they have supplied a modification wiper we are still not satisfied. (15) Elongation of Diaphragm Pin housing in Air Valve through insufficient area of support. We have asked D.O. to strengthen this part up. (16) Bonnet Catches allowing Bonnet to rattle. A 100% stronger springs have been tried which give considerable less rattle from the bonnet. We suggest the angle of the catch to be more horizontal to hold bonnet more firmly to the bonnet supports. (17) Dynamo. We are still in trouble with dynamo brush noise and nothing has been done to overcome it. (18) Starter Motor Switch Foot Lever. The fitting of the spot light switch makes the position of the starter lever dangerous as this can be very easily caught and the motor started with the engine running.
