TEST ON 36-EX. Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}, C and Cx{Major Len W. Cox - Advertising Manager} tried this car after Hoopers had removed the metal rear floor and put in wooden floorboards. It was considered that there was some improvement in the general noise inside this car. It was clear during this run that the exhaust was definitely audible at 30 m.p.h., and might easily be confused with tyre noise and some transmission noises. If the Works can overcome this 30 m.p.h. period it would make a very great difference to the general silence of the car inside. The general feeling of those concerned was that this car as tried was not unacceptable so far as tyre noises go. It has, however, an experimental scheme of rubber shackles. The tyres were not of the fully chamfered silent pattern. | ||
