To Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Wst. BY/RD.8/B.9.6.37. PETROL PUMP SWITCH. We are handing you herewith, a revised petrol pump switch to which Messrs. Lucas have now fitted a new spring, and have modified the contacts to give a little more scrub as requested. This switch has now completed 14,000 operations at Messrs. Lucas's, and shows no signs of failure, and it is therefore suggested that we can continue testing same. With reference to your criticisms :- (1) That the cams controlling the contacts, etc., might come loose. It should be borne in mind that this is a temporary sample, and in the final article, the whole centre spindle will be moulded and the cams be integral. (3) Two bearings are provided, [REDACTED] the large plain bearing adjacent to the spring loading, and we think it is very unlikely that any trouble in this direction would occur. Will you please have this switch tested and let us have your remarks as soon as possible. BY/D.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary} | ||
