EV{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}1./5.3.26.cont. altering any of the pieces except the shape of the bent tubes and the position of the set in the step iron. We also suggest that a small fixing be provided on the formost tube to support the Cobra Horn. We do not agree that the change will greatly increase the stresses in the carrier. We estimate that the increase will be approx. 12%. In order that a further 10.000 miles test should be avoided we suggest that we bump a chassis having a wheel carried on either side, one of which is in the present position and the other in the proposed position. In this way we can estimate their relative strengths. We believe that the only body which the EXPL. DEPT. have which will tell them anything is 8.EX. From what the writer saw at the coachbuilders he came to the conclusion that, with the wheel in the present position quite a number of bodies would be in difficulty.
