Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Mths.{Reg Matthews}9/MH.{M. Huckerby} 30th. August 1937. Messrs. Hepworth & Grandage Ltd., St.{Capt. P. R. Strong} John's Works, Bradford, Yorks. For the attention of Mr. N.C.Brearley. Dear Sirs, With reference to your letter of the 23rd. inst. we note with regret that your analysis of the rings has not been able to determine satisfactorily the identity of the particular packages, from the figure quoted it looks as though some mistake must have been made in the packing since we have not disturbed the rings from the small packages, except in the case where we have opened an occasional one for the purpose of analysis. The best thing to do under the circumstances appears to be for you to return them to us as you suggest for spares, we may be able to get the Administration to accept them in this way. We should like you to supply also 50 compression rings of each material to the following specification :- Diameter - 3.500 Width - .0937 Radial depth - .134 Free Gap - .469 Wall Pressure - 18lb./sq.ins. the rings to have ground finish on the periphery and taper on face to extent of .001 on diameter. The rings should be marked for identification of material and for method of fitting. Could you please supply these rings as early as possible. Yours faithfully. | ||
