CHASSIS - REAR ROAD SPRINGS.

The question of rear road springs was discussed with Mr Royce recently and he decided that the best thing for us to do is to instruct prewar springs entirely except for the new solid eye and the re-arrangement of the rear and second plate in order to suit the new roller as shown on F.7973 attached.

There is one point, however, we should like to take up with Woodheads, i.e. the clip shown on the drawing is a gun metal casting and R.{Sir Henry Royce} suggests that we should use this clip, but only if it can be got as a steel stamping with reasonable facility. If, however, Woodheads cannot produce these as stampings we are quite agreeable to using the present clips.

Will you kindly send the attached blueprint to Messrs. Woodheads and ask them to go ahead with springs to this drawing, both for ourselves and America.

Standardisation sheets have been sent out and there is no question that they will be returned fully signed up.
