-5- (2) A separate oil filter for the oil to rockers should be fitted to all engines fitted with these tappets, as the smallest amount of dirt will put them out of action. The main oil filter on Phantom & Vulture is of no use, since it by-passes when the oil is cold. In conclusions, it is suggested that a rig for testing these tappets be constructed - a skeleton crank-case fitted with block, head and camshaft, driven by a belt etc., would be suitable. In this way we could test eccentric bearing schemes etc. under better conditions, and without holding up test bed or road work on an engine. Further, it would not be necessary to construct complete sets of tappets, eccentrics, etc., and this would speed up this work. HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/C.S.Steadman. 20.2.34. | ||
