We had petrol failure trouble on the way down here Monday evening and yesterday we endeavoured to locate it. The pump supply was adequate, finally we disconnected the pipe to the carburetter and ran a quantity of petrol through the pipe as we came to the conclusion that it was foreign matter that was causing the trouble. We could not reproduce the failure after doing so. The cutting off of the oil supply direct to the valve end of the rocker via the bush has not prevented oil getting there and we were in the same trouble as before with a smoky exhaust. We have therefore had the ends of the rockers soldered up.

There is an ample supply of oil getting to the push rod end, but at low speeds there is practically non going down the push rod.

There has been no squeaking of the clutch during the tests we made dealing with the petrol trouble.

We have started the traffic test this afternoon.
