To RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} from Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} tr{Capt. F. W. Turner - Finance}080 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}14/KT.7.12.33. We have been carrying out some experiments on the air valve of the 20/25 carburetter. The object of the test was to reduce the clearance and so reduce the tendency for the air valve to stick. We found that this could be done without spoiling the carburetter. Having taken away the bearing provided by the large diameter of the air valve however, we think that the small surface on the small end of the air valve is insufficient. For this reason we should be glad if you make up an air valve to Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}1224 having the steel guide as illustrated.
