Abbot Anderson} 1/ML.10.7.40. re R.Smith. With reference to the claim for supplementary petrol for the above, if he adopts the route from Bridgford, Nottingham, to Belper via Ilkeston, he will cover a mileage of 1,200, for which he will require 40 gallons. He has attempted to find accomodation locally; in the meantime, I would be glad if you could see your way to putting in a recommendation for this extra petrol, when his claim form reaches you. He is an essential part of the organisation as all units and engines have to be inspected by him during contruction. He is working 7 days per week. Rm {William Robotham - Chief Engineer} /AA. {D.
