-4- They pair off gears in a silence room before fitting in box. They use a pot lap such as we do on aero gear splines. They use a synchro mesh cone of 6°, width of face 7/16" dia. at large end 3¼". To prevent sticking they turn a very fine screw thread (100/1") in the brass face of the cone, the only other treatment being radial slots for oil - [Image diagram with labels: SCREW THREAD, SLOTS] DASHBOARD. Two thin facings of sheet metal enclosing ¼" of felt asbestos type insulating packing. CLUTCH. As on Lincoln & Cadillac, single plate long. WEIGHTS. Light 8 engine, including flywheel disc but no clutch - 320 cu.ins. 808 lbs. Gearbox (3-speed) & bell housing 131 lbs. Clutch, less flywheel fixed to crank 40 lbs. Complete 12 cyl. car ) 5910 lbs. 147½" wheelbase ) 3061 r.p.m. per mile. | ||
