Dear Sirs,

We thank you for your interesting letter of Sept. 6th.

With reference to the first paragraph, it seems that the contents of our letter ref. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/CTS.{C. Trot Salt - Carburation}4/MH.{M. Huckerby} dated August 31st. has caused some misunderstanding.

We would like to correct this by saying that we have not carried out any tests on your Temperature Control Unit.

When the writer spoke to you about this particular control unit, it was agreed that we should carry out certain tests before trying one. The reason for this being, that if we should desire to run at a constant air intake temperature, we could do something towards finding this figure, before actually testing one of your units.

Now with reference to the third paragraph of your letter, you say that having determined the desired temperature, your device will keep it constant.

We therefore carried out a test (under test bed conditions we agree) as mentioned in our previous letter, and we think it worth while mentioning in more detail the method adopted in the test.

The engine was a 4¼ litre Bentley, having two S.U. carburettors on a common pipe, the tee bends connecting the main pipe to the carburettors being water heated by the circulating water in the engine, which is our normal practice.
