-2- Smiths. Two Smiths Filters were submitted for trial and though possessing a cleaning rate slightly faster than the A.C. and General do not appear to have the dirt absorption capacity. The first sample filter after recovering 2 gallons of oil from 44% to 79% in 3 hrs (line 2) ceased flowing and the second filter after recovering 2 gallons of oil from 44% to 78% in 4 hours (line 4) also ceased flowing. Based on these results and the fact that it has an initial cost of 8/- the Smith filter in its present form does not come in the running. Like the A.C. filter it has no separate element and has to be uncoupled from the unions and clip and thrown away complete. Luber-Finer. This filter is hopeless in comparison with the other three being much heavier, more expensive and less efficient. The result as shown on the photograph is that after recovering oil from 47% to 62% in 4 hours it ceased flowing. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Swdl.{Len H. Swindell} | ||
