As it was thought that there was rather less tendency to form carbon deposits with this oil metallic lead was smeared over half the underside of the piston crown. This in no way affected the deposit.

FURTHER DEVELOPMENT.

It is hoped to get some comparative results with these oils on the R. {Sir Henry Royce} single cylinder during piston bedding tests about to be put in hand.
