Wheel balancing issues related to the position of the inner tube joint.

contd :- -2-

It is unfortunate that the alteration of the position of the joint in the tube has been made, for the following reasons :-

(1) It is not conveniently possible to balance a wheel fitted with the present balancing scheme, if a tube is used in which the joint is opposite the valve.

(2) Conversely it is not conveniently possible to balance a wheel which has been altered as in (a) and (b) when fitted with the original type of tube (i.e. where the joint is not very far away from the valve.)

The tubes with the joint opposite the valve should be adopted as wheel balance is hardly upset by having to change a tube.

Dunlops should be notified of our requirements re. the weight at the valve and also requested to make only the one type of tube i.e. with the joint opposite the valve.

N.B. This report applies to 40/50 HP. wheels and tyres only (33 X 6.75" tyres for 21" rims).
