X1763 Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} To Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} from E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} c. Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} E.8/HP.13.5.35. re Petrol Feed. Replying to your memo Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}11/E.1.5.35, the SpectreCodename for Phantom III is being arranged with a petrol pump similar to the Bentley. The autovac cannot be made to work with the high carburetter, imposed by horizontal and downdraught carburetters. We are, therefore, bound to use a pump of some sort. I was not aware that the Bentley petrol pump was the subject of much complaint and if it is a question of flooding this is a fault usually ascribed to the carburetter floatchamber mechanism. However, I am looking closely into this matter and in the meantime we have an improved design of floatchamber from the S.U. Co. which is shortly to go on test. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} | ||
