HIGH SPEED WOBBLES. X457

We have the following work we should like to do in connection with these tests.

(1) Remove present axle and pivots from 98-NK and fit a standard axle with Westinghouse air springs on the front dumb irons (now in the Stores - dumb irons require drilling).

(2) Arrange castor pivots taken off 98-NK. so that when fitted to the vertical pivot axle they give vertical wheels and centre point steering. You suggested that this might be done in the same way as on the previous vertical pivots by putting packings behind the stub axle.

[Diagram Label] Vertical centrepoint.

(3) By means of a second packing, arrange the castor pivots on the vertical axle to give the wheels slightly leaning in at the top as per sketch.

[Diagram Label] Wheels lean in 3°

(4) Fit spring and bob weight to pivot on bumper chassis axle.

(5) Arrange disc wheel hubs so that we can pack the disc wheels out 2" from their std. position.
