Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}7/JH.31.10.39. re 7.B.V. Rebuilding. Since your visit here a few days ago we have obtained some further information concerning the following items. (1) Single Prop. shaft. A quarter scale arrangement SCD.1261 was produced, we believe to suit the Warner Gearbox, but not issued. The original should be in the strong-room. A full scale scheme of the frame cross to suit a single prop. shaft for either Warner or B.V. gearbox, FCD.1310 was made and not issued. The original is in the Strongroom. This shews the gearbox extension and the prop. shaft. Further design work would be required for the gearbox extension, and the whole scheme needs to be detailed. (2) Two leading shoe brakes. A complete scheme was made by By/Ald.{F. Allwood - Experimental Design} SCD.1280 and SCD.1281 of which we enclose a print of the former and H.P.S. should have prints. We have the original of SCD.1280 and that of SCD.1281 is booked out to J.B.Dixon of the Exptl. Dept. We were supposed to have been handed all SCD. originals, but a lot are missing. (3) Gordon Armstrong Rear Dampers. On the original B.V. Gordon Armstrong dampers at the rear of the axle were schemed - see LEC.5768. A recent scheme by By/Ald.{F. Allwood - Experimental Design} SCD.1397 was produced fitting R.R. dampers in front of the axle which has not been detailed - print of scheme herewith. A scheme for Gordon Armstrong Dampers similarly arranged could be produced without much difficulty. We are applying all of these features to Rippletto and schemes will be produced, but these will be for the Cont'd.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary} | ||
