We have made some comparative tests on a Condor 111A engine with :- (a) The present standard type camshaft E.20268/9 giving .390" lift. (b) The new long duration type camshaft E.30971/2 giving .460" lift. A timing exploration was carried out to find the best position for the new camshafts - the extreme positions of the range explored being :- (Image of two timing diagrams) The timing diagrams are given with a tappet clearance of .025" on inlet and exhaust positions. The accompanying curves shew the power obtained in the best position for the new camshaft 'B', compared with the power with the standard camshafts (A), over a range of speeds of 1500 r.p.m. to 2100 r.p.m. Timing diagrams for the complete cycle in each case, are also included for :- (1) An all round working (test) clearance of .025". (2) The actual working (cold) clearances of exhaust .025". inlet .015". contd :- | ||
