o.{Mr Oldham} Gry.{Shadwell Grylls} Hdy.{William Hardy} JFB. Hn.{F. C. Honeyman - Retail orders} AFM{Anthony F. Martindale}/Kt. Hdy{William Hardy}/GHK.1/WBl. File No. 2600.S. SECRET 19th January 1956. Messrs. Hooper & Co., Ltd., Western Avenue, Acton, London W.3. For the attention of Mr. Rivers. Dear Sirs, 12' 1" Wheelbase Car. We understand from our Mr. Knight that you have now reached the stage when you require more chassis information to enable you to proceed with your body design for the above motor car. To help you in this respect we are enclosing prints giving particulars of the body mountings, petrol tank and valance plates etc. We have had to revise our 1/4 scale layout of the chassis and a new print is enclosed to show the changes we have made. Will you please destroy your original copy to prevent any confusion. The main differences concern the body brackets, petrol tank and exhaust system. Individual full size drawings give you full information concerning the other body mountings. Also enclosed is a copy of our design for the centre section of the frame for the 133" wheelbase chassis. We are sending this because the difference between it and the 145" wheelbase frame will only be one of length, the shape of the members will be the same for both chassis. The petrol tank capacity has been increased. This has been achieved by lengthening the tank longitudinally. We have now made a drawing illustrating the fundamental shape of the valance plates and a print of same is enclosed. Our air conditioning unit design is now practically complete and a print illustrating its shape is enclosed to give you an indication of the minimum size of wing required to accomodate it. The unit is to be housed under the right front wing and a detachable panel is to be provided in the wing to give access to various electrical components attached to the side of the unit. It is our intention to mount the battery under the left hand wing with another detachable panel to give servicing access. The design for this is not yet complete. Continued.......... | ||
