We have carried out further tests to-day with the shutters in the bonnet reversed to let the hot air out from under the bonnet. From our figures the relative value of the shutters letting out the air or letting in the air under the bonnet makes no difference in the results obtained. It has been noticed under certain conditions the Cambridge thermometer which is reading at the back of the engine gives a higher temperature than at the front. This was noted to be when running at a fairly high speed without having to use full throttle. In all other circumstances the reading of this thermometer is generally lower. The two thermometers have been checked side by side and are approx. correct. The following are the figures obtained in today's tests :-

TEMPERATURE TESTS

M.P.H. AIR ZAMBRA THERMO. CAMB. THERMO.
60 29.0 90 (Handwritten, struck through: 85)

Bonnet Shutters Open

80 30.0 92.0 (Handwritten: 91.)

We have also been carrying out tests for bonnet knocks but the results are not yet [Handwritten insertion: yet] of [Handwritten insertion: of] sufficient value to report.

The total mileage up to date is 736.
