Messrs.Joseph Lucas Ltd.,
Great King Street,
Birmingham, 19.
For the attention of Mr.R.L.Neill.
Dear Sir,
Replying to your letter of the 22nd instant reference RLN/EH., the approximate mileage the Car had run when the lamp bulbs burnt out was 1700. We estimate the number of miles during which the lamps were used therefore to be not more than 1,000 which at an average speed of 40 miles per hour represents 25 hours.
We have safely received the other lamp bulbs and a pair of them is at present being fitted to a Bentley car which is to run a 10,000 mile test in England almost immediately. A good proportion of this test will be run during lighting hours.
We will arrange to let you have a report regarding the behaviour of these lamp bulbs at a later date.
Yours faithfully,
FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED.
