Dear Mr.Robotham, We thank you for the opportunity granted to our Messrs.Markland and Tattersall on Friday last during their visit to your Works of discussing various problems in connection with the design of bearings and gearboxes. We have made arrangements for one of our R.R.56 connecting rods, Part No. 135272D, to be sent to you under separate cover; the weight of this rod complete with bolts and small end bush is 4 lbs. 7 ozs. The weight of the steel connecting rod, Part No. X.41205, which we are now fitting as standard, complete with bearings and bolts, is 6 lbs. We enclose a report covering the work which we carried out on a 4.1/2 x 5.1/2" 6 cyl. 'F' type engine during the month of January 1931, together with a duration test report, a report on engine and heat and water tests, performance curves of the engine, Nos: R.D.187-188, and a scheme 3566 showing the valve layout and combustion chamber, a detail drawing of the cylinder head is also enclosed. We regret that this information is rather scrappy but it must be borne in mind that it is between 7-8 years old. As we have no further copies of these reports in our files we should be pleased if you would return them at your convenience. - cont - | ||
