At Last! AN EQUABLE* READING GASOLINE GAUGE
*(Webster says, "Equable = steady, even, uniform, unwaving")

A new principle in electric gauge operation has been developed by King-Seeley Corporation to produce a unit which is basically steady reading and consequently accurate and dependable.

THE ELEMENTS OF THIS ELECTRIC TELEGAGE ARE:
1. A bimetal in the "Tank Sender" with one end anchored, an insulated contact at the free end and carrying an electric heating coil.
2. A "Receiver" bimetal carrying heating coil in series with "Tank Sender" heating coil and actuating the indicator needle.

HOW IT OPERATES:
1. Current in "Sender" heating coil causes bimetal to bend away from grounded contact, breaks circuit, bimetal cools, returns to original position and again makes contact. This cycle then repeats.
2. Rise of float caused by filling tank with gasoline results in cam action forcing grounded contact against Sender bimetal. More current is then required to bend bimetal sufficiently to break circuit.
3. "Receiver" bimetal behaves similarly to "Sender" bimetal.
4. Indicating needle connected to "Receiver" bimetal thus records level of gasoline in tank.

While any movement of the cork float also moves the grounded contact, this position must be maintained for an appreciable period to have any effect on the "Receiver." This is true because it takes a few seconds for the heating coil to bend the bimetal. Because of this characteristic, any sudden movement of the cork float caused by splash or wash of gasoline in the tank does not register. Thus, for the first time in automotive history an inherently steady reading and thoroughly reliable gasoline gauge is an accomplished fact.

In this, the third year of use, more than three million K-S Electric Telegages are in operation or on order, — Recognition with a capital R.{Sir Henry Royce}
