It was decided to attempt the record on Friday June 13th in two stages. In the first place a new bronze propeller would be fitted 16" dia. x 14" pitch, that several laps would be made across the measured mile with increasing throttle openings until either the maximum speed had been obtained with this propeller or the propeller failed. The boat would then be brought back to the slipway and a modified steel propeller fitted 15" dia. x 15" pitch.

The first procedure would then be repeated. Before launching on the Friday the engines and transmission gear and all systems were thoroughly inspected and found to be in perfect order.

The boat was towed out and started on the lake perfectly. The engines ran perfectly up to the time of the disaster.

The records of engine revolution attained have not yet been recovered.
