To Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from E/Lid.{A. J. Lidsey} c. Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} Mx.{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer} [Handwritten] WST [Handwritten] 6/34. E/Lid.{A. J. Lidsey}1/HP.29.4.35. Bentley Starter Motor. Referring to E/Lid.{A. J. Lidsey}3/HP.18.4.35 and Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager}9/R.26.4.35, we should be glad if you would modify a Bentley geared starter motor to the 20/25 HP. pinion and flywheel ratio for testing, and in due course issue a standardisation sheet if the tests are satisfactory. It will be very helpful to production if this modification can be put through quickly. Flywheel whistle is a constant source of complaint on the Bentley and we know of no other way of eliminating it.
