W. A.{Mr Adams} Robotham Esq.,
Messrs. Rolls-Royce Limited,
DERBY.

Dear Mr. Robotham,

Lord Rothes has sent me a copy of your letter regarding the T.T. Race and we are very pleased to hear that you are quite satisfied with the service arrangements which were made.

As a matter of interest, I thought you might like to have samples of the tyres which ran in the Race. These tyres were the original ones which were removed at the 19th lap.

I believe Mr. Young has sent you some figures regarding the wear on these tyres.

There is a point in connection with your letter which on perhaps you could give me further information. In the second paragraph of your letter you say "that had Hall made up his mind a little earlier to use these tyres, it is clear now that we could have used a smaller size and got half way through the race comfortably." I am wondering if you mean that better performance could have been obtained from the car had a smaller size been used and the gear ratio changed to suit.

We were rather handicapped in not knowing exactly the size of tyre for which the gear ratio on the car was designed and therefore we had to leave it to Mr. Hall to satisfy himself in the practice runs that he could get the acceleration that he felt was needed.
