PHANTOM 111. PETROL TANK. --------------------------- When discussing the material which was suitable for release on the Phantom 111. I have a recollection that Mr. Hancock pointed out that the 35 gallon tank had a serious resonance when it was nearing the point of depletion of 'no petrol'. Apparently no record was made of this, as E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} left his office before this point came up. We think this point ought to be definitely settled, as my recollection of the discussion was that the 35 gallon tank was far too noisy to be permitted to be made, as it is at the moment. This means, of course, that possibly some corrugation should be pressed into the bottom to increase its stiffness or if this is not agreed to it would appear that we would have to go back to the 28 gallon tank, which is actually too small for a car using petrol at the rate of Phantom 111. This would mean a protest from Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} who feels very strongly that a 35 gallon tank is necessary. BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} By | ||
