During the investigation of gears, equipment for measuring the helix angle was developed in the Tool Inspection Dept., and this equipment has the following guaranteed accuracy:- Angular division to 0° - 0' - 10" Axial movement to 0".0001 Indicator readings to 0".0001. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} has now been invited to send any gears along and helix angle readings will be taken. Regarding criticism by Mr. F.J.Hardy. For the production of a highly accurate gear on gear cutting machines which are not new, means of running the gears together and testing the bedding must be provided for the gear cutter to try his work and enable him to make a good job. Also, the drawing should state what degree of accuracy is required. RHC{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer}/A.E.CLARK. A.E. Clark | ||
